After studying Mathematics and Statistics at the University of St Andrews, Jon stayed on and completed a PhD in Statistical Ecology in 2008. After working in Primary Care at the University of Birmingham, he joined BCTU as a Statistician for the Surgical Reconstruction and Microbiology Research Centre (SRMRC) in October 2012 and progressed to the role of senior statistician in 2018.
His research interests include the design, conduct and analysis of large scale late phase randomised controlled clinical trials (RCTs). In his BCTU work he assesses medical, surgical, and complex interventions in a diverse portfolio of clinical trials including the areas of Trauma, Maternal Health, Orthopaedics, and Renal Disease. In his SRMRC work, Jon supports various studies of clinical data, both trial and non-trial related, including work covering burns, surgery, ophthalmology and military trauma.
