In June 2024, we hosted 11 major trial results - BLING III, PROTECTION, CYCLE, A2B, PREOXI, REMAP-CAP Ivermectin for COVID-19, HEMOTION, DEFENDER, REMAP-CAP steroids for COVID-19, NAVIGATE and REVISE, as well as for systematic reviews and meta analyses. Four trials were simultaneously published in the New England Journal of Medicine, two in JAMA, and one in NEJM Evidence.

The Critical care Reviews Meeting is a relatively small, intimate, niche meeting. In 2024, delegates attended from 24 countries and every corner of the globe. If you plan on coming, please book as soon as possible to avoid disapointment. As our venue capacity is fixed, when tickets are sold out, we're full!

Our Philosophy

The Critical Care Reviews Meeting is a truly unique event, where our aim is to share science rather than make money. For those who can't attend in person and don't require CPD points, we will be livestreaming the event for free. All talks are recorded and made freely available on the CCR website. Our annual book, summarising the best trials of the previous year, is given to delegates and a pdf copy made freely available for downloading. For those who do make it, we aim to have a minimal impact on our environment, with carbon offsetting in the form of tree planting, minimal plastics, and a focus on local food. We provide unrivalled on-site childcare at minimal cost, reduced maternity and paternity rates and a baby feeding area. We try to match scientific excellence with global equity and environmental responsibility. Critical Care Reviews is not-for-profit.

The Science

While we take pride in providing a culturally rounded event, the Critical Care Reviews Meeting is a scientific conference, highlighting the best critical care trials in the world. We host major trial results. Every trial result is allocated a full 90 minute session, including 30 minutes for the results presentation, 15 minutes for an independent editorial, 10 minutes open questions and a 30 minute expert panel discussion. Previously, we reviewed major trials published within the previous 12 months, but due to the pressure on our programme to include first result presentations, we are no longer able to do this. We believe we provide the finest format for presenting trial results in the world.

The Atmosphere

The vibe of our Meeting is different too, with high class science presented and discussed in an open, friendly format. Our social programme matches our scientific programme, with superb night events, as well as early morning exercise options. Alternatively, take the time to explore our home city Belfast, which is remarkably vibrant and culturally rich. If you have time to stay for a few days or longer, get outside the city and explore the island - there are few more beautiful places in the world.

Further details on our scientific programme, faculty, social programme, hotels and travel will be available in the coming months. There are 2 airports in Belfast, with links across the UK and to Europe. Dublin airport is just a 90 minute drive and has extensive connections worldwide.

There are social events on both Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th. At the end of day 1, there will be a welcome wine reception for all delegates in Titanic Belfast. There is the option to follow this with a paid visit to the Titanic Exhibition, for up to 90 minutes. Later that evening, we will have our first live music event, at a venue to be confirmed. As always at the Critical Care Reviews Meeting, food and drink is included at our social events. On Thursday 12th, we return to the hugely popular Dark Horse bar for more craic agus ceoil (fun and music).

Welcome to Titanic Belfast

Titanic Belfast is the home venue for the Critical Care Reviews Meeting. Opened in 2012 to coincide with the anniversary of the sinking of RMS Titanic, this incredible building is a physical match for the original ship, with bows projecting from each corner and standing the same height as the famous White Star ocean liner. Situated on the exact location where RMS Titanic was constructed, this iconic building overlooks the slipways where RMS Titanic and Olympic were launched into the Atlantic Ocean.

Please note the meeting is held in a self contained section of the building and there is no access to the Museum during the scientific programme.

Child Friendly

We believe in equity of access for all, so having a little one isn't an obstacle to attending CCR25. We provide a range of services to make it easier for you to come to Titanic Belfast and if you want to bring your child into the meeting room, all the better. Onsite Childcare

Should you need to avail of childcare to attend the meeting, we are pleased to be able to offer this at minimal cost. This facility is provided by registered childcare professionals in a dedicated, secure room two floors below the conference. You will be able to pop down and see your little ones during the breaks and lunch and can also bring them into the meeting. We have a limited capacity to care for children so please book early. If you've come directly to Titanic Belfast from the airport or train station, or maybe are returning to either of these at the end of the day, then relax in in the knowledge that we can store your luggage on site whilst you attend the meeting.

Should you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the meeting for a little while, we provide a quiet space for thought, prayer or reflection. It's on-site, so you will only miss as much of the meeting as you wish.
