Welcome to the 548th Critical Care Reviews Newsletter, bringing you the best critical care research and open access articles from across the medical literature for the week June 6th to 12th.
We're well behind schedule due to the workload from CCR22, but are working hard to catch up. Expect a few newsletters in the next 10 days or so. The next newsletter will contain the major trials presented at CCR22. In this newsletter, outside the literature below, there are four topics to highlight.
Firstly, our next livestream trial result presentation is on tomorrow / tonight (Monday, June 27th, 19:30 UTC+1). The NITRIC trial investigates the effect of nitric oxide, administered via cardiopulmonary bypass, in young children undergoing surgery for congenital heart disease. Coming straight after the meeting, this has flown under the radar somewhat.
Secondly, after a three year hiatus, we're delighted to have completed the Critical Care Reviews Book 2022 in time for CCR22. Twenty-two of the best critical care trials of 2021 are summarised, critiqued and placed in context. The pdf can be downloaded from the CCR website, or a print version purchased for a low cost.
Thirdly, the videos from CCR22 are presently being edited and will be freely available on the website soon
Fourthly, as our workload and costs continue to increase, we have started a CCR Supporter facility, where you can contribute as little as the price of a cup of coffee per month, or make a one-off donation, to help support our efforts. Our aim is to share science for the benefit of all. While it is free to use, it's very costly to produce. If you value what we do, please support us in our efforts to continue keeping everyone up-to-date with the latest advances in critical care.
