Critical Care Reviews Newsletter

Please support our work to share science
Welcome to the 580th Critical Care Reviews Newsletter, bringing you the best critical care research and open access articles from across the medical literature over the past seven days.
The highlight of this week's edition is the long awaited publication of the CLOVERS trial, comparing early restrictive with liberal fluid management in sepsis-induced hypotension. Other highlights include randomised controlled trials investigating the effects of early mobilisation & early high-flow nasal oxygen in children with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure; a systematic review and meta analysis on mean arterial pressure targets in critically ill adults; and observational studies on weaning from mechanical ventilation & mortality as a measure of treatment effect in clinical trials recruiting critically ill patients.
There are also narrative reviews on cardiogenic shock & septic coagulopathy; editorials on pulmonary embolism & extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation; and commentaries on the pulmonary artery catheter & surgical science and the evolution of critical care medicine.
If you only have time to read one review article this week, try this one on the physiologically difficult airway.
